Bekithemba Zulu

Bekithemba was born on the 21st of August 1998. His name means
ìput trust in everything.î His surname was derived from the South African
tribe called Amazulu. His father, Edwin died at the age of 33 in 2007 of
HIV related illness. Bekithemba lives with his 28 year-old mother Mildred.
Mildred is HIV+ and taking anti-retrovirals. He is the eldest. Mildredís
three other children all died in their first two years of life. Mildred and
Bekithemba live in a small 8x8 foot rented room. She sells vegetables
to make money. Bekithembaí favorite game is soccer and he also enjoys
swimming. Red is his favorite color and sadza, a polenta like food that is
the staple food of Zimbabwe and stew is his favorite food. Bekithemba has
always wanted to be a doctor but he is below average at school. He ranks
20th in his class of 46. New Yearsí Eve 2009 was his best moment and his
fatherís death was his worst. Mandoza a South African Musician whom he
says is a really good artist inspires him. Bekithemba has health problems.
He breaks bones easily and his stomach bothers him. He is under the care of
Zimkids Dr. Macsimovic.
