Appiah was born 21 September 1995. Her name means Queen of Blessings in Zulu. Her surname, Moyo, means Heart in Shona. Her father, Lameck Moyo died in 1998 at the age of 43. She is the last-born in a family of four and is currently living with her mother, Felisitas Mkwebu, her younger brother, Given Moyo, and her sister's child, Helen. They live in a rented 9x10 ft. room in a three-room house. Her older sister, Felicia, and older brother Augustine are in South Africa. They send money home to pay some of the bills. Appiah loves reading books. Purple is her favorite color and beans are her favorite food. Appiah wants to become a doctor when she grows up. Aphia consistently is in the top 5 of her class of 44. Her best moment was her sister, Felicia's, wedding because it was beautiful. Getting the food from the sale of her dolls makes her very happy. Her worst moment was when she broke her left arm and then broke her right shoulder. Her role model is Tashi a local actress. Appiah has asthma but is in otherwise good health
